Hello Kate, the slow counts are optional as everything else in Lagree. We are programming the machines to teach at a slower pace because reducing the speed is a great way to further increase the strength and the muscle tightness. You are not obligated to follow the slower count if you feel like the 4 counts is appropriate. I taught a 14 minutes super lunge on the new EVO 2 at a count of 16! Again, students were not obligated to do so. I would recommend to get the white spring. It;s a game changer for the exercises on the back.

I’ve been a practicing fan of Lagree for 7 years now. I’m finding these slow counts have become a bit ridiculous. The 8-counts are unachievable, at least consistently, and I find that I get more out of a slow 4-count than an 8-count. Even at a snail’s pace, count 6 is as far as I can get with doing the exercise before I’ve completed it.
Also, it’s frustrating when these videos indicate spring loads that aren’t available on my machine. I bought a fully loaded microformer thinking it included everything I needed to take these classes. Yet he did several exercises with two black springs. I have one black spring, one white, one grey, and one red. It would’ve been helpful if he said what spring load to use as an alternative.
